THI update 13-19 July 2026.

Small respite last week as THI eased slightly but continued to be challenging for most of GB, and that despite lower external overnight temperatures. Daytime in-shed maximums exceeded 30°C in all regions at least once last week giving extreme heat stress levels of THI in such cases – knowing individual shed conditions is key as variability is wide across our recorded farms.

We’ve now seen 5 consecutive weeks where hours at THI 67 or higher (when standing and lying times alter) have been at 40% and above for Midlands and south of England (and 3 of 4 weeks at these levels for the rest) so expect increased foot lesions come late September…

This week continues to be challenging for cows as temperatures remain in the mid to upper 20’s outside but there does seem to be a south to north easing of temperatures (but little sign of rain!) as the week goes 🐄☀️🌡️
