THI Update 20-26 July 2026.
A slight easing in conditions for cows last week as the extreme heat of early July has mainly gone. Conditions still remain challenging enough to potentially be impacting fertility via conception rates across much of GB with 5-7 days of average THI 65 or higher (other than Scotland with just the 2 days at this level). We are still seeing days of THI 68 and above as we move south so milk yield, and likely constituents, will be under pressure.
With August approaching then there’s still time to be making changes on farm which will benefit cows this summer, whether that’s infrastructure changes or nutritional changes as the risk period will continue until mid-September at least. This week will challenge cows again but hopefully cool a little later in the week but the south to north challenges mean high 20’s Celsius returning next week in the Midlands and south… 🐄☀️🌡️
